2018 Volvo XC40 Pricing Confirmed - Australian details for the 2018 Volvo XC40 range have been announced this week, with the company’s smallest SUV to kick off from $47,990 before on-road costs when it lands next month.
Based on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) co-developed with Chinese parent Geely, the XC40 is Volvo’s third globally-available SUV model and will also be the first of the brand’s models to offer a three-cylinder engine – though we won’t get it at launch.
From April, four variants will be offered across two trim grades: Momentum and R-Design. Two engine options are offered – the T5 petrol and D4 diesel.
The T5 uses a 2.0-litre turbo four making 185kW of power and 350Nm of torque, while the D4 uses a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four putting out 140kW and 400Nm.
Pricing kicks off at $47,990 for the T5 Momentum, climbing to $50,990 for the D4 Momentum. The T5 R-Design asks for $54,990, while the D4 R-Design is even dearer at $57,990 (all prices exclude on-roads).
Oddly, specifications for the standard trims are not available yet – however, Volvo has confirmed specifications for a pair of launch editions.
First up is the Momentum Launch Edition, available with both the T5 ($52,990) and D4 ($55,990) powertrains.
There’s also keyless entry, an electric tailgate, electric seat adjustment for the front passenger, alarm and leather upholstery. According to Volvo, the extra specification equates to $10,120, despite a $5000 increase over the base car.
Second of the launch specials is the R-Design Launch Edition, priced from $56,740 for the T5 and $59,740 for the D4.
Additional kit over the standard R-Design include a sunroof, tinted windows, an alarm, heated front seats, adaptive cruise control with Pilot Assist, Park Assist Pilot, 360-degree camera system, and a Harman Kardon sound system.
The extra kit is said to be valued at $6670, though the launch versions of the R-Design ask for just under $2000 more than the base version.
Stay tuned to CarAdvice for a full pricing and specifications run-down closer to the XC40’s local launch next month.
